Remembering Nancy Seltzer: A Trailblazing Public Relations Expert

Longtime public relations guru Nancy Seltzer, known for her work with a plethora of celebrity clients including Garth Brooks and the late Sean Connery, passed away on Wednesday in Los Angeles at the age of 79.

One of her most notable clients, Garth Brooks, paid tribute to Seltzer by stating, “Public relations is the hardest job in show business. She always handled every situation with the utmost class.”

Throughout her illustrious career, Seltzer represented a wide array of actors such as Richard Burton, Robert Downey Jr., Bette Davis, Julia Roberts, and Nicole Kidman. She also worked with musicians like Whitney Houston and Placido Domingo, as well as bestselling author Danielle Steel.

As the head publicist on the Academy Awards red carpet for many years, Seltzer was a familiar face in the world of entertainment. Her boutique publicity firm, Nancy Seltzer & Associates, had offices on both coasts and represented clients across film, music, theater, and literature.

Seltzer was instrumental in promoting iconic films such as “Pirates of the Caribbean,” “Silence of the Lambs,” and “The Shawshank Redemption.” She was involved in their marketing campaigns from production to their Academy Award campaigns, showcasing her expertise in the industry.

Described as someone with extraordinary trust and loyalty, Seltzer formed lasting friendships with people worldwide. Her firm highlighted her kindness, care, and unwavering loyalty towards everyone she encountered.

Sadly, Seltzer was predeceased by her parents, Nathan and Anne Seltzer, as well as her brother, Norman Seltzer. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Tower Cancer Research Foundation.
