Video shows mom and kids getting brutally assaulted outside Chicago school: ‘Gut-wrenching’
A horrifying incident captured in a viral video has shocked the nation, showing a mom and her two young children being brutally attacked by a mob of kids outside a Chicago elementary school. The video, which has been viewed millions of times, has sparked outrage and calls for justice.
Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson was among those who addressed the disturbing footage, describing it as “deeply” disturbing and “gut-wrenching.” The mom, identified as Corshawnda Hatter, 33, was walking home with her 9-year-old son and younger daughter from Orville Bright Elementary School on the city’s South Side when they were cornered and attacked.
In the video, Hatter is seen trying to protect her terrified children from a group of kids who were hurling abuse and physically assaulting them. The attackers threw the family to the ground and repeatedly punched and kicked them. At one point, the mom’s wig was ripped off, and one of the attackers can be heard yelling, “Beat his ass!” as her son tried to run to safety.
Hatter spoke out about the attack, recounting how they were ambushed by the group of kids who had been waiting for them along their route home. She described how her son was targeted first, and she was dragged to the ground while her baby daughter’s hair was pulled. Both Hatter and her son were taken to Trinity Hospital in serious condition after the brutal beatdown.
The incident is currently under investigation, and as of Wednesday morning, no arrests had been made, according to Chicago police. Hatter revealed that her son had been bullied at the school for over two years, yet the administration failed to take action to protect him. She met with school administrators and city leaders to seek justice for her son.
Local residents have voiced concerns about the out-of-control behavior of the kids involved in the attack, highlighting previous incidents of vandalism and harassment in the community. Mayor Johnson condemned the violence, stressing that such behavior is unacceptable in the city and should not be normalized.
Chicago Public Schools expressed horror at the attack and assured support for the Hatter family. However, it remains unclear whether any disciplinary action has been taken against the perpetrators. The community is calling for accountability and justice in the wake of this disturbing incident.
