Violent Chicago robbery suspect allegedly molested young girl

A Chicago man, Davaughn Credit, who managed to avoid jail time for a series of violent robberies, has recently made headlines after escaping from his ankle monitor and being arrested for molesting an 11-year-old girl. This shocking incident unfolded after Credit was released on pretrial release by Chicago Judge David Kelly, known for his leniency towards offenders. Despite being sent home, Credit went missing last month and was later found at a home in Indiana, where he allegedly sexually assaulted the young girl he had met on Snapchat.

The distressing situation came to light when the girl’s mother reported her daughter missing from their Chicago home. The girl’s location was traced to Rensselaer, Indiana, where she was believed to be with Davaughn Credit. An affidavit obtained by Region News Source revealed that the girl was found in an intoxicated state and promptly taken to the hospital for medical attention.

During her ordeal, the girl disclosed that Credit, whom she referred to as “Day Day,” had engaged in inappropriate behavior by touching her private areas while she was at the house. It was later revealed that the two had been communicating through Snapchat, where Credit’s account displayed his name, providing crucial evidence for the case.

Credit was eventually apprehended on December 5 at the Indiana residence, where he had been hiding for several weeks. Despite initially resisting arrest, he was taken into custody on outstanding warrants for robbery and escape. Upon searching the premises, authorities discovered drugs, including marijuana and cocaine, leading to additional charges against Credit.

Indiana prosecutors wasted no time in charging Credit with child molestation, possession of cocaine, and possession of marijuana. Furthermore, six other individuals residing at the home were also arrested on drug-related charges, indicating a broader issue of drug use within the household.

Prior to this disturbing incident, Credit had been charged with four counts of robbery and one count of aggravated battery stemming from a crime spree in November 2024. The robberies involved stealing personal belongings from victims at various locations in Chicago, including train stations and residential areas. The culprits were eventually apprehended with the help of surveillance footage and were found in possession of a pistol-shaped taser.

The Cook County State Attorney’s Office has been approached for further details on the case. This harrowing incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by individuals with violent tendencies and the importance of ensuring appropriate consequences for criminal behavior.
