Wacko stabs roommate to death in fight over ‘living situation’ in NYC project: cops

A tragic incident unfolded in a Bronx housing project as a 67-year-old man, Enoch Rosado, allegedly stabbed his 35-year-old roommate, Miguel Batiz, to death following a dispute about their living arrangements. The altercation occurred in their apartment at the New York City Housing Authority’s Edenwald Houses on East 229th Street near Laconia Avenue in the early hours of Wednesday.

The confrontation escalated, leading Rosado to repeatedly stab Batiz, rendering him unconscious and unresponsive. Tragically, Batiz was pronounced dead at the scene. Rosado was promptly apprehended and later charged with murder, manslaughter, and criminal possession of a weapon by authorities.

The nature of the fight stemmed from a disagreement over the pair’s living situation, although specifics regarding the exact circumstances remain unclear. Despite NYCHA regulations stipulating that cohabitants in their facilities must be related or have a family-like relationship, it appears that Rosado and Batiz did not meet these criteria.

Rosado’s arraignment in Bronx Criminal Court was pending at the time of reporting. The incident serves as a grim reminder of the potential consequences that can arise from conflicts within shared living spaces. As investigations continue, authorities seek to uncover further details surrounding the tragic event.
