Wake held for Nicola Tanzi in Brooklyn after he was killed madman in fatal beatdown

Originally from Italy, Tanzi moved to New York City decades ago and lived a simple life in Bensonhurst. Tanzi, who had five brothers, was known for his simplicity and dedication to his community.

Tanzi’s younger brother, Anthony, spoke of his plans to retire and move to Long Island before his life was tragically cut short. Despite his simple lifestyle without a cell phone or email, Tanzi was involved in many activities and had a bright future ahead of him.

The man responsible for Tanzi’s death, David Mazariegos, 25, has been charged with first-degree murder. Prosecutors revealed that Mazariegos, who has a history of criminal cases, brutally attacked Tanzi without any provocation. The assailant confessed to police that he resented Tanzi holding the door open for him and viciously assaulted him, resulting in fatal injuries.
