Walmart recalls 850,000 water bottles over impact and laceration risk
Walmart has issued a recall for approximately 850,000 water bottles due to a defect in the lid that has caused serious injuries to users. The Ozark Trail stainless steel bottles have a lid that can forcefully eject when users attempt to open it, posing a risk of impact and laceration. This issue led to two people suffering permanent vision loss and another sustaining injuries.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a notice on July 10, urging consumers to stop using the water bottles immediately and contact Walmart for a full refund. Alternatively, customers can return the product to their nearest Walmart store for a refund. The recall number for the affected water bottles is 37-377.
The Ozark Trail 64 bottles, which are made in China and sold exclusively at Walmart stores nationwide or on the company’s website for around $15, come in a 64-ounce capacity and feature a silver color with a black one-piece screwcap lid. The packaging of the product includes the model number 83-662.
Walmart has not provided any additional comments regarding the recall at this time. It is crucial for consumers who own the Ozark Trail 64 water bottles to heed the recall notice and take appropriate action to ensure their safety.
