Wealthy steel magnate and family killed when their plane crashes in Ohio moments after takeoff
A tragic plane crash in Ohio claimed the lives of a prominent steel magnate, James Weller, his wife Veronica, their son John, daughter-in-law Maria, as well as the pilot Joseph Maxin and co-pilot Timothy Blake. The family was en route to Bozeman, Montana for a vacation when their twin-engine aircraft went down just seven minutes after takeoff from Youngstown Regional Airport.
The crash, which occurred in a heavily wooded area just two miles west of the airport, was described as the deadliest in the area’s history by Howland Township Fire Chief Raymond Pace. First responders faced challenges in reaching the crash site due to the dense woods, but eventually recovered all six bodies.
The community mourns the loss of the Wellers, a well-known and respected family in the area. James Weller, 67, was the owner of Liberty Steel Industries Inc, a successful steel company. His wife Veronica, 68, son John, 36, and daughter-in-law Maria, 34, were also highly regarded members of the community.
The tragic incident has left a deep impact on the community, with many expressing their condolences and sharing memories of the Wellers. The family will be remembered for their contributions to the community and their presence will be deeply missed.
The crash serves as a reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of cherishing every moment with loved ones. The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing, as authorities work to determine what led to the tragic accident.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Weller family, as well as the pilot and co-pilot who lost their lives in this devastating plane crash. May they rest in peace.
