Wells Fargo Refuses To Reimburse Customer After $4,400 Abruptly Drained From Account – Insisting Customer Approved the Withdrawals: Report
Wells Fargo Customer Fights Back Against Illicit Charges
A Wells Fargo customer, Vicki Duffy from New Hope, Pennsylvania, recently found herself in a frustrating situation after discovering unauthorized charges totaling $4,443 in her bank account. The charges were linked to a money transfer company that she had never used before, as reported by CBS News Philadelphia.
Upon noticing the fraudulent activity, Duffy immediately reached out to Wells Fargo to report the unauthorized transactions. Despite filing a police report and disputing the charges as fraudulent, the bank initially denied her claim and rejected her subsequent appeal.
In Duffy’s own words, “It was very frustrating. They kept saying, ‘You approved it.'” Determined to rectify the situation, she spent seven months battling with the bank to have the unauthorized withdrawals reversed.
After exhausting all internal avenues with Wells Fargo, Duffy sought assistance from the media. When a reporter intervened and inquired about her case, the bank agreed to reopen her claim. Ultimately, Wells Fargo reversed the charges, and Duffy was reimbursed the full amount.
Despite declining to comment on the specific case, a Wells Fargo spokesperson acknowledged the resolution of the matter. Additionally, Duffy received a letter from the money transfer company confirming that they had identified the charges as fraudulent on their end.
