Where Knicks’ OG Anunoby now stands in his rehab progress
OG Anunoby is steadily making progress in his rehabilitation process, according to Knicks coach Mike Brown. In an update on Wednesday, Brown mentioned that Anunoby has started taking contact in practice, showing improvement from his previous status. Just a few days ago, Brown had mentioned that Anunoby was participating in 3-on-3 scrimmages but had not yet been cleared for full contact activities.
Anunoby had suffered a left hamstring strain two and a half weeks ago, and the Knicks have managed to maintain a 6-3 record in the nine games he has missed so far. Despite the positive strides in his recovery, the team is not rushing his return and is still uncertain about the exact timetable for his comeback.
In the absence of Anunoby, Mitchell Robinson sat out of the Knicks’ recent game against the Hornets as part of their load management strategy for his left ankle. This game was the second leg of a back-to-back series, and Robinson has yet to play both games in such situations this season.
Ariel Hukporti saw an increase in playing time due to Robinson’s absence and impressed coach Brown with his defensive contributions, despite not scoring and fouling out. Brown highlighted Hukporti’s impact on the game, praising his defensive efforts and the energy he brought to the team in just over 12 minutes of play.
Furthermore, Wednesday was designated as Garden of Dreams Night at Madison Square Garden, with Brown engaging with two children as part of the Garden of Dreams foundation pregame activities. The Knicks continue to navigate through injuries and absences, focusing on player development and maintaining a competitive edge on the court.
