Where to watch and live streaming details in India?
The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 season is on the horizon, with the auction set to take place on Thursday, November 27, in Delhi. A total of 277 players, including 194 Indians and 83 overseas players, will be up for grabs in the auction.
With 73 slots to be filled, 50 for Indian players and 23 for overseas players, each team can have a maximum of 18 players, including six foreign cricketers. The minimum requirement for each squad is 15 players. The auction will kick off with the presentation of the first 67 players, followed by an accelerated round where the five franchises will nominate a set number of cricketers. Once the accelerated round concludes, the franchises will have the opportunity to bid on unsold or unpresented players from the initial pool of 277.
All five franchises have the option to retain or buy back at least five players using either the retention or Right to Match (RTM) option at the auction. Retained players can include up to three capped Indians, two overseas players, and two uncapped Indians among the five. A franchise looking to retain five players must have at least one uncapped Indian in their retained list.
The WPL 2026 auction will be broadcast live on Star Sports Network TV channels in India, starting at 3:30 PM IST. For fans who prefer live streaming, the JioHotstar app and website will provide coverage of the auction.
Players like Meg Lanning, Amelia Kerr, Phoebe Litchfield, Laura Wolvaardt, Nadine de Klerk, Deepti Sharma, Kranti Gaud, and N Shree Charani are expected to attract significant bidding wars during the auction. The Mumbai Indians, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, secured their second title earlier this year by defeating Delhi Capitals in the final.
In conclusion, the WPL 2026 auction promises exciting bidding wars and intense competition as franchises look to build strong squads for the upcoming season. Fans can tune in to watch the action unfold and witness the formation of competitive teams for the Women’s Premier League.
