White Sox’s Adrian Houser vomits in dugout, stays in for win
Adrian Houser’s Unforgettable Performance for the White Sox
Adrian Houser had an eventful day on the mound for the Chicago White Sox, both in terms of his pitching performance and his off-field antics. Despite experiencing a bout of nausea inside the dugout, Houser managed to power through and secure a victory for his team at Guaranteed Rate Field.
The incident occurred during a game against the Blue Jays, where Houser delivered a solid scoreless first inning before unexpectedly vomiting in the dugout. This was not the first time Houser had experienced such a situation, as he has a history of getting an upset stomach during games.
According to White Sox radio announcer Len Kasper, Houser’s tendency to feel queasy is well-known among the team’s training staff. In fact, Houser had warned them in advance about the possibility of him getting sick during the game. Despite the setback, Houser showed resilience and determination by staying in the game and ultimately leading the White Sox to a 2-1 victory after pitching seven innings and allowing just one earned run.
This was not the first time Houser had dealt with vomiting on the field. In a previous game against the Phillies in June 2018, he had to endure two episodes of throwing up before finishing the inning. The then-manager of the Milwaukee Brewers, Craig Counsell, attributed the incidents to a combination of factors such as an early wake-up call, lack of food, heat, and nerves.
Houser’s ability to persevere through such challenges has been a defining trait of his career. In a game against the Rangers in August of the following season, he once again vomited on the field after committing an error. Despite the embarrassing moment, Houser remained focused and continued to play.
After struggling with the Mets last season and being designated for assignment, Houser found a new home with the White Sox and has been enjoying a career resurgence. With a 5-2 record and an impressive 1.56 ERA in nine starts, Houser has proven himself to be a valuable asset for his team.
Following his strong performance this season, Houser’s name has been circulating in trade rumors as the trade deadline approaches. Despite his past challenges and setbacks, Houser’s determination and resilience have made him a standout player in the White Sox lineup, and he could potentially be a key player in any trade deals the team may pursue in the future.
