Woman Struck, Killed By Truck Carrying Trump Military Parade Tank In DC
Tragic Accident Involving Army Convoy in Northeast Washington
The tragic incident occurred on U.S. Route 50 in Northeast Washington, where a 39-year-old woman was struck by a semitruck. The vehicle, operated by a contract truck driver, was part of a convoy departing from the U.S. Army’s 250th anniversary event. It was transporting an M1 Abrams tank from a staging area near the Lincoln Memorial to a railroad in Maryland, as revealed in an Army document obtained by USA Today.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers found the woman unconscious and not breathing. Despite the efforts of first responders to revive her, she was pronounced dead by a spokesperson from D.C.’s Metropolitan Police Department.
An investigation into the accident is currently underway. Initial findings by the police indicate no signs of criminal intent or negligence on the part of the driver.
When questioned about the incident, the Army declined to comment and directed inquiries to the D.C. police department.
The incident took place during a parade on Saturday, criticized for its resemblance to displays seen in authoritarian regimes. The event, which led to widespread “No Kings” protests, is estimated to have cost taxpayers $45 million.
