Workers At Family-Run Mexican Restaurant Were Arrested After Serving A Meal To ICE Agents
Following the reported arrest of three restaurant workers in Willmar, Minnesota, just hours after Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents had dined in their establishment, social media users have denounced the incident as “depraved” and “diabolical.”
The Minnesota Star Tribune reported that four ICE agents had lunch at the family-owned Mexican restaurant El Tapatio around 3 p.m. on Wednesday, according to an eyewitness. The staff appeared to be frightened during the agents’ visit.
After the restaurant closed at 8:30 p.m., the agents followed the departing workers and detained three of them, as protesters heckled them. The immigration status of the detained workers remains unknown.
This incident occurred amidst increased federal immigration enforcement in Minnesota, following the tragic shooting of Renee Good by an ICE agent. The Department of Homeland Security has yet to comment on the matter.
