Xpeng to let other carmakers use its partly-autonomous driving system
Chinese electric car company Xpeng made a significant announcement on November 5, 2025, revealing the launch of a new version of its driver-assist system. The company, based in Guangzhou, China, stated that by the first quarter of 2026, it will introduce a cutting-edge driver-assist system specifically designed to navigate narrow roads with ease.

Furthermore, He revealed that in a test route, Xpeng’s system completed the journey several minutes faster than Tesla’s FSD.
Looking ahead, Xpeng has ambitious plans to further enhance its driver-assist technologies. The company announced that the new system can now respond to traffic controllers’ hand gestures and traffic light countdowns from red to green, showcasing its adaptability to diverse road conditions and scenarios.
In contrast to Tesla’s challenges in obtaining approval for FSD in mainland China, Xpeng has been proactive in deploying its driver-assist technologies in major Chinese cities since early 2023. In a move reminiscent of Tesla’s foray into autonomous services, Xpeng disclosed its intention to launch three robotaxi models next year and commence testing in Guangzhou.
