Yardi Systems countersued in Colorado corporate rent dispute
Centennial Office Landlord Denies Allegations of Pocketing Rent, Countersues Ex-Tenant
A dispute has arisen between a Centennial office landlord and a former tenant over alleged inadvertent rent payments. Hoehn Management Group, the owner of Highland Place I at 8085 S. Chester St., is facing a lawsuit from California-based real estate tech firm Yardi Systems Inc., claiming that they accidentally paid $15,000 in rent for 16 months after closing their local offices in 2023.
Yardi is seeking a refund of $239,930, along with $10,000 for furniture that Hoehn was supposed to purchase. However, Hoehn Management denies the allegations and has filed a countersuit.
According to Hoehn, Yardi never officially moved out in 2023 and remained a holdover tenant until November 2024, paying a holdover rate of $22,493 per month. Hoehn disputes the claim that they agreed to buy Yardi’s furniture.
The landlord is now countersuing for approximately $75,000, representing the difference between the rent paid by Yardi and the amount they believe should have been paid.
Yardi is being represented by attorneys from Womble Bond Dickinson, while Hoehn’s legal counsel is from the Connolly Law Firm.
