Youth baseball coaches fired after streaking at upstate NY tournament
Two youth baseball coaches from Lake Bluff, Illinois have been fired after a video surfaced online showing them streaking at an under-12s tournament in upstate New York. The coaches were caught on camera stripping naked under the field lights while their team was in Cooperstown for the tournament.
In the video, one of the coaches can be seen sliding headfirst into home plate while completely nude, much to the shock and laughter of the children present. The scene elicited reactions of astonishment and confusion from the young players, with one child exclaiming, “Oh my god!” and another asking, “Is he naked?”
The motives behind the coaches’ decision to streak at the tournament remain unclear. However, the repercussions were swift and severe. The Lake Bluff Youth Baseball Association’s 12 and under Blue team, coached by the individuals in question, was disqualified from the tournament. Additionally, the local sheriff’s department was called in to investigate the incident.
Following the incident, both coaches were promptly fired by the youth league. The LBYBA released a statement expressing their commitment to taking the matter seriously and cooperating with the authorities in their investigation. They emphasized that such behavior is not tolerated and that the assistant coaches involved had been terminated.
It is still unknown whether the coaches were parents of any of the players on the team or if any legal action has been taken against them. The Otsego Sheriff’s Department, responsible for patrolling Cooperstown, has been contacted for further information regarding the incident.
As the story continues to unfold, the Lake Bluff Youth Baseball Association has yet to provide any additional comments on the matter. The repercussions of the coaches’ inappropriate behavior serve as a reminder of the importance of upholding standards of conduct and sportsmanship in youth sports.
