Zohran Mamdani Enlists Survivor Contestants in Anti-Cuomo Campaign Ad

The recent political landscape in New York City has taken a surprising turn, with former “Survivor” contestants coming together to endorse Zohran Mamdani for mayor in a new campaign advertisement. The ad, which aired during a popular episode of “Survivor,” is part of a seven-figure ad buy aimed at reaching different segments of the voting public.

In the ad, Teeny Chirichillo, Yam Yam Arocho, and Katurah Topps, who appeared on various seasons of “Survivor,” make a compelling case for Mamdani. Chirichillo highlights the need for a mayor who will prioritize affordable groceries and childcare, rather than catering to billionaire donors like Andrew Cuomo. Arocho advocates for a mayor who will improve public transportation and resist defunding the MTA.

The ad cleverly mimics the format of “Survivor” confessionals, with Brandon Donlon and Arocho expressing their support for Mamdani’s platform. Natalie Anderson makes a final plea for Mamdani, emphasizing his commitment to standing up to powerful interests, freezing rent, and providing universal childcare. Mamdani himself appears at the end of the ad, promising to create a city where no one has to struggle to survive.

Mamdani, a 33-year-old Democratic Socialist and state assemblyman, emerged victorious in the Democratic primary, defeating both Cuomo and Curtis Sliwa. As the mayoral election on Nov. 4 approaches, Mamdani and his opponents are gearing up to spend millions on advertising to sway voters.

The support from “Survivor” contestants adds a unique and engaging element to Mamdani’s campaign, showcasing his appeal to a diverse range of voters. With his progressive economic platform and focus on addressing the needs of everyday New Yorkers, Mamdani is positioning himself as a fresh and promising choice for the city’s next mayor.
