$357,020,000 in Bitcoin and Crypto Liquidated As BTC Price Pushes Above $80,000
Traders who were betting against Bitcoin and the broader crypto markets are facing significant losses as BTC’s price surges above $80,000. In the past 24 hours alone, a staggering $375.02 million worth of leveraged crypto bets have been liquidated, as reported by CoinGlass, a leading market data tracker.
The majority of these liquidations targeted traders who were shorting the market, amounting to $304.96 million in losses. Bitcoin took the biggest hit, with $160.8 million liquidated, primarily from short positions. Following closely behind, Ethereum saw $84.7 million in liquidations, also dominated by short positions. In total, over 98,000 traders were forced to exit their positions due to these liquidations.
Despite the turmoil in the market, Bitcoin is currently trading at $80,416, marking a nearly 3% increase in value over the past 24 hours. This price jump has caught many traders off guard, leading to significant losses for those who were betting against the cryptocurrency.
