475 people taken into ICE custody at Hyundai plant in Georgia
In a recent development, United States immigration authorities have carried out a significant raid at a Hyundai manufacturing site in Georgia. According to Steve Schrank, a special agent in charge of Homeland Securities Investigations Atlanta, a total of 475 individuals were apprehended during the operation.
The Hyundai facility, situated in Ellabell, Georgia, underwent this raid as part of an ongoing criminal investigation into allegations of unlawful employment practices and other serious federal crimes. The Department of Homeland Security released a statement confirming that the raid was authorized by a judge-issued search warrant following a thorough investigation of the facility. Although the investigation is still active, no charges have been filed against anyone at this time.
It was revealed that the individuals who were arrested worked for various contractors as well as the parent company, Hyundai. Schrank emphasized that this operation marked the largest single-site enforcement operation in the history of Homeland Security Investigations.
