THE BIGGEST JOKE IS NOT BUILDING YOUR BUSINESS

By Dr. Paulette Y. Clark
Brownstone Brief | Editorial

Let me say this plainly, Neighbors—

The biggest joke right now is not what people are posting online…

It’s not the memes.
It’s not the trends.
It’s not even the distractions.

The biggest joke is how many people are still not building their business.

WE ARE IN A MOMENT MOST PEOPLE DON’T RECOGNIZE

Right now, we are living in one of the most accessible economic windows in history.

You can:

  • Start a business from your phone
  • Reach thousands—even millions—without a storefront
  • Sell products, services, ideas, knowledge

And yet…

People are still sitting on:

  • Ideas
  • Gifts
  • Skills
  • Opportunities

Waiting.

Waiting for the “right time.”
Waiting for more money.
Waiting for someone to tell them they’re ready.

LET ME BE VERY CLEAR

There is no “right time.”

There is only:
Who moves and who doesn’t.

Because while you’re waiting:

  • Someone else is launching
  • Someone else is learning
  • Someone else is getting paid

And here’s the part people don’t want to say out loud:

Somebody else is building the life you said you wanted.

THIS IS NOT JUST ABOUT MONEY

Yes, business creates income.

But what we’re really talking about is:

  • Ownership
  • Control
  • Leverage
  • Legacy

When you build your business, you are not just making money—

You are creating:

  • Options
  • Freedom
  • A system that can outlive your time

DISTRACTION IS THE REAL COMPETITION

Let’s talk about it.

Most people are not failing because they lack ability.

They’re failing because they are:

  • Over-entertained
  • Over-distracted
  • Over-consuming

Scrolling…
Watching…
Commenting…

But not building.

You cannot consume your way into success.

At some point, you have to produce.

THE MINDSET SHIFT THAT CHANGES EVERYTHING

You don’t need:

  • More motivation
  • More inspiration
  • Another video

You need a decision.

A decision that says:

“I am no longer going to sit on what I have.”

Because once you decide:

  • You start messy
  • You learn as you go
  • You adjust in real time

That’s how businesses are actually built.

Not perfectly.

But consistently.

WHAT BUILDING REALLY LOOKS LIKE

Let me break the illusion:

Building your business is not glamorous.

It looks like:

  • Posting when no one is watching
  • Selling when no one is buying yet
  • Learning what works by seeing what doesn’t

But over time?

That effort compounds.

And suddenly:

  • People are watching
  • People are buying
  • People are asking how you did it

THE REAL COST OF DOING NOTHING

Let’s talk about the part people avoid.

The cost of not building your business is not zero.

It is:

  • Lost time
  • Lost income
  • Lost opportunity

And the longer you wait…

The more expensive that cost becomes.

THE BOTTOM LINE

The world has changed.

The tools are here.
The access is here.
The opportunity is here.

So if you are still not building—

That’s not confusion.

That’s a decision.

FINAL WORD

Neighbors, I’m going to leave you with this:

The same energy you put into watching other people win…

Could be the energy that builds your own.

So the question is not:
“Can you do it?”

The question is:

When are you going to start?
