Ayo Edebiri, Will Sharpe to Lead Rom-Com Series Prodigies at Apple TV+

Will Sharpe and Ayo Edebiri Join Forces for New Rom-Com Series “Prodigies” on Apple TV+
Will Sharpe and Ayo Edebiri are teaming up for the upcoming romantic comedy series “Prodigies” on Apple TV+. Sharpe, known for his work on “The White Lotus” and “A Real Pain,” is the creator of this seven-episode comedy and will also be writing and directing it. The production is being handled by Sister, the BAFTA-winning company behind “Black Doves.” Edebiri, acclaimed for her performance in “The Bear,” will not only star in the series but also serve as an executive producer alongside Sharpe.
“Prodigies” is described as a unique take on a classic romantic comedy, delving into the complexities of long-term relationships through the eyes of an unconventional couple. The storyline follows Didi (played by Edebiri) and Ren (played by Sharpe), former child prodigies who have been together since childhood. Now in their early thirties, they begin to question if their ordinary lives are living up to the extraordinary expectations set in their youth, prompting them to reevaluate their relationship.
The series challenges the conventional notion that a romantic story concludes when the protagonists come together. Instead, it explores how individual aspirations and desires intersect and clash within a shared life, highlighting that the journey of a relationship truly begins once a couple commits to each other.
Executive producers Jane Featherstone, Naomi de Pear, and Katie Carpenter from Sister are also on board to bring “Prodigies” to life on screen.
While Sharpe gained international recognition for his acting in “The White Lotus,” his talent extends to behind the camera as well. He previously created the award-winning series “Flowers” and directed projects like “Landscapers” and “The Electrical Life of Louis Wain.” Edebiri, a multi-award-winning actress, brings her talent and expertise to the series, promising an exciting and fresh perspective on love and relationships.
