Thugs charged with murdering Israeli businessman in LA home are illegal immigrants
The brutal murder of Israeli businessman Alexander Modebadze in his Los Angeles home has sent shockwaves through the community. Three illegal immigrants from Georgia – Pata Kochiashvili, Zaza Otarashvili, and Besiki Khutsishvili – have been charged with his murder and are currently held on a $2 million bail. All three have federal immigration detainers lodged against them.
Otarashvili and Khutsishvili were released into the US after crossing the southern border illegally under the Biden administration. Otarashvili was arrested by border agents in July 2022 and instructed to report to ICE in New York, but failed to do so. He applied for asylum in October 2022, with his immigration court hearing being canceled for unknown reasons. Khutsishvili crossed the border illegally in March 2022 and was released on a $3,000 immigration bond. He later filed an asylum application and is scheduled for an immigration hearing in 2028.
Kochiashvili, on the other hand, entered the US as a tourist in 2017 but failed to leave by the required date. He was arrested for burglary in 2020, with the case being terminated due to insufficient evidence. Despite federal detainers being lodged for his arrest, local authorities failed to honor them, leading to his subsequent arrest for marijuana cultivation in 2022.
In a tragic twist, another Israeli businessman, Meni Hidhra, was found murdered in the same neighborhood shortly after Modebadze’s killing. The two murders, although occurring in the victims’ homes in the San Fernando Valley, do not appear to be connected. Law enforcement is actively searching for a Hispanic male suspect believed to be responsible for Hidhra’s death.
These senseless acts of violence highlight the need for stricter immigration policies and better cooperation between federal and local authorities to ensure the safety of all residents. The community mourns the loss of these two individuals and hopes for justice to be served in their memory.
