Man Fires Guns with Children in Van: Shocking Allegations Unveiled

In a startling turn of events, prosecutors have unveiled shocking allegations against Zantarrian Ferguson and Daphanie Johnson. The couple is accused of endangering their eight young children after Ferguson opened fire on a Rogers Park street, firing a gun with each hand, and then tossing both loaded weapons into a nearby minivan where the kids were sitting. Johnson, the kids’ mom, also allegedly threw a loaded shotgun into the vehicle.

Charges and Detainment

Ferguson, 33, and Johnson, 32, are facing charges of unlawful possession of a weapon and eight counts of child endangerment. Judge James Murphy has ordered both individuals to be detained pending further legal proceedings.

Incident Details

The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. on April 27 in the Rogers Park (24th) District. According to a Chicago police report, officers witnessed Ferguson firing two guns at three men in the 7600 block of North Ashland. Using a Glock pistol in his left hand and a mini-AK-47 in his right, Ferguson targeted the group and sought refuge behind the Toyota minivan where his children were seated.

After the shooting, Ferguson allegedly threw both loaded guns into the minivan with his kids, as per prosecutors. Johnson, who is the registered owner of the vehicle, also reportedly tossed a loaded shotgun inside while Ferguson was firing his weapons.

Familial Connections

The CPD report identifies Johnson as Ferguson’s wife and states that all eight children belong to him. The kids, ranging in age from eight months to 12 years, bear either Ferguson or Johnson as their last names.

During the altercation, Johnson allegedly justified her actions by claiming she was protecting her family, citing a previous incident where someone had allegedly shot at her.
