Stephen Colbert Trolls Corporate Bosses Amid Reports Of Trump Deal

Stephen Colbert, host of the “Late Show,” took a bold stance against his corporate parents on Tuesday in light of reports that Paramount, the owner of CBS, was on the verge of settling a lawsuit with President Donald Trump.

Trump had filed a $20 billion lawsuit against the network last year over a “60 Minutes” interview with then-Vice President Kamala Harris, alleging that the interview was edited to portray her in a more favorable light.

Initially, CBS had indicated that they would fight the lawsuit, but the situation took a turn as Paramount, currently in the process of being sold, required approval from the Trump administration’s FCC to transfer the CBS broadcast license to the new owners, a process that had not yet been completed.

Recent reports suggested that Paramount was ready to settle the lawsuit with Trump for a sum of up to $50 million.

Several lawmakers, including Sen. Bernie Sanders, cautioned against Paramount settling the lawsuit, citing concerns that it could potentially violate laws against bribery.

Colbert, in a satirical tone, addressed the situation and jokingly offered to testify on Trump’s behalf in the lawsuit for “50 million and one dollars” if Trump could outbid CBS.
