Jesse Watters believes that the Pope’s more liberal views will not impact the conservative agenda in the U.S.A.
During an interview at LAX, Watters shared his views on Pope Leo XIV’s political ideology and its potential impact on American politics. He emphasized that regardless of the Pope’s beliefs, American politicians will continue to pursue their own agenda without much consideration for the pontiff’s views.
According to Watters, “The pope does his thing, and America does our thing, and it’s all good.” He firmly believes that the Pope’s influence will not sway the direction of American politics.
Regarding President Donald Trump’s invitation to Pope Leo, delivered by Vice President JD Vance, Watters expressed skepticism about the likelihood of the Pope accepting the invitation. He noted that traditionally, individuals visit the Vatican to meet the Pope, rather than the other way around.
JD Vance recently met with Pope Leo at the Apostolic Palace and extended an invitation for him to visit the White House. The Pope indicated his willingness to accept the invitation, along with receiving a personalized Chicago Bears jersey.
When asked about potentially having a drink with CNN’s Jake Tapper, Watters left the response open-ended, hinting at a possible future interaction between the two media personalities.
While Pope Leo holds significant authority in Vatican City, Watters remains firm in his belief that the pontiff’s influence will have minimal impact on the decisions and policies of the United States.
