Jon Stewart Tackles Elon Musk’s Exit From the Trump Administration

On the latest episode of “The Daily Show,” host Jon Stewart delved into the conclusion of Elon Musk’s tenure with D.O.G.E. and his involvement with the Trump administration.
Elon Musk’s stint as a “special government employee” under the Trump administration officially ended on May 28, after a total of 128 days in the role. According to the U.S. Department of the Interior, individuals serving as special government employees are limited to 130 days in a consecutive year. Musk’s position involved leading the Department of Government Efficiency, or D.O.G.E., with the primary goal of reducing unnecessary government spending.
Stewart kicked off the show by humorously announcing, “D.O.G.E. has finally ousted one of America’s least efficient government workers and given him the boot.” He then transitioned to Musk’s final press conference at the White House, where Stewart described Musk as looking like a “guy who had a rough night at a Nashville bar he can’t quite recall,” complete with a “black eye” and a “thousand-yard stare.”
Commenting on Musk’s appearance, Stewart quipped, “This guy has been through some stuff. I’d love to know the full story behind that black eye.”
During the press conference, Musk was questioned about the origin of his black eye, to which he responded, “I was just goofing around with [my son]. I told him, ‘Go ahead, hit me in the face.’ And he did.”
Stewart couldn’t resist poking fun at Musk’s explanation, stating, “I mean, sure, accidents can happen when you’re roughhousing with your kid. But I highly doubt any parent has ever encouraged their child to punch them in the face.”
Stewart also highlighted that Trump had prepared a parting gift for Musk as a token of appreciation for his service. The press conference footage revealed Trump presenting Musk with a ceremonial golden key.
“I wanted to give him a little something special,” Trump remarked. “It’s a very special [gift] that I reserve for very special individuals. I’ve given it out to a few people, but it’s reserved for the truly special ones. So, I decided to gift it to Elon as a gesture from our nation.”
Stewart jokingly remarked on Trump’s presentation, questioning the necessity of Trump’s elaborate explanation. “Couldn’t you just hand him the key? Did you have to mention that you’ve given them to multiple people?” Stewart teased. “‘You know, I’ve got a bunch of these lying around. I hand them out to special folks like… Who’s the guy who brings me my Diet Cokes? I give him one for every Diet Coke he delivers. Anyway, enjoy your useless key.’”
The segment concluded with a call to watch the full episode for more comedic insights.
