Trump shrugs off Musk feud after shunning call with billionaire

President Trump Downplays Feud with Elon Musk, Focuses on Positive Numbers
President Trump remained unfazed during a phone conversation with The Post on Friday morning, choosing to divert the discussion away from his feud with Elon Musk and instead highlighting the positive aspects of his presidency. The former top ally had launched personal attacks against Trump the day before, but the president seemed unbothered.
Trump confidently stated, “Nothing catches me by surprise. Nothing,” before shifting the conversation to his high polling numbers, a booming stock market, billions pouring in from tariffs, and a better-than-expected May jobs report. He maintained a cheerful tone throughout the discussion, emphasizing the success of his administration.

The clash between Musk and Trump arose from the former’s criticism of the Trump-backed One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which is projected to increase the federal deficit by $3 trillion over the next decade. Despite Musk’s objections, Trump defended the bill, emphasizing its benefits for the country.
“He knew the bill as well as anybody,” Trump remarked, referring to Musk. “The bill is great. It’s going to pass, but the bill is great, and it’s going be great for everybody, including him. And you see it now. And take a look at what happened today with the job numbers. They’re through the roof and the stock market’s up already 600 points.”
Trump concluded by reaffirming his commitment to his role as president, stating, “This is what I do for a living, OK?” Despite the tensions with Musk, Trump remained focused on the positive outcomes of his administration and the overall success of his policies.
