The relievers that can propel your playoff push

Fantasy baseball managers are always on the lookout for ways to gain an edge in their leagues, especially when injuries and power outages have plagued the starting pitcher position. In such scenarios, categories like saves and steals can make all the difference in securing a championship.

While finding steals can sometimes be easier on the waiver wire, identifying reliable sources of saves can be a bit more challenging. However, there are a few bullpens that deserve attention for potential save opportunities, such as the Texas Rangers and the Chicago Cubs.

In Texas, left-hander Robert Garcia has emerged as the closer for the Rangers, showing promise with a 4-for-6 success rate on save chances. Manager Bruce Bochy seems to prefer having one designated closer, which bodes well for Garcia’s stability in the role.

Over in Chicago, Danny Palencia has been shining for the Cubs, outperforming Ryan Pressly and establishing himself as a reliable option for saves. While manager Craig Counsell tends to play matchups, Palencia’s recent performance suggests he could hold onto the closer role for the time being.

Another bullpen worth monitoring is the Arizona Diamondbacks, who recently lost closer Justin Martinez to Tommy John surgery. Right-hander Shelby Miller has stepped in as the interim closer, but his inconsistency and the lack of alternatives make the situation uncertain. Veteran Kevin Ginkel could be a fallback option if Miller falters.

In a landscape where save opportunities are scarce, being proactive and monitoring bullpen situations can give fantasy managers a competitive advantage. Even adding one reliable closer off the waiver wire could be the key to securing a championship.
