Irate NYC man accused of bashing longtime partner, 77, with pot and smothering her in fatal attack

An appalling tragedy unfolded in the Bronx as a 73-year-old man, Jeffrey Kolin, was charged with murder for allegedly attacking his 77-year-old partner in their apartment on Barnes Avenue. The horrifying incident involved Kolin reportedly striking his longtime companion in the head with a kitchen pot and then suffocating her with a pillow. The NYPD responded to Kolin’s 911 call, where he confessed to the crime, and found the victim, Marsha Greenberg, unconscious and unresponsive.

Marsha Greenberg was rushed to Jacobi Hospital by paramedics but tragically was pronounced dead upon arrival due to head trauma. The couple, who had been in a tumultuous relationship for twenty years, had a history of domestic incidents dating back to 2005. The most recent report was filed on June 25, highlighting the troubled nature of their relationship.

Kolin now faces charges of murder, manslaughter, two counts of strangulation, and criminal possession of a weapon in connection with the heinous crime.
