Travis Decker on police dashcam footage during car accident 3 days before allegedly killing daughters: report
Travis Decker, a fugitive father accused of killing his three young daughters, was captured on a police dashboard camera just three days before the tragic incident. The incident took place in Wenatchee, Washington, on May 27, when Decker collided with another vehicle at a red light. He pleaded with the driver not to involve the police, as captured in the nearly 20-minute dash cam video.
The footage showed Decker standing by his truck, looking at the responding officer as the accident report was being completed. The driver of the other vehicle described Decker as intimidating and mentioned that he seemed to be out of his normal state of mind, asking strange questions during the interaction.
This was not the only incident involving Decker and car accidents. He was also involved in a hit-and-run on May 4, where he rear-ended a Honda CRV and fled the scene. The driver of the Honda followed Decker and provided his license plate number to the authorities.
The encounter on May 27 ended with an uncomfortable handshake between Decker and the other driver, who later recognized him in the news as the man accused of killing his daughters. The bodies of his daughters, Paityn, Evelyn, and Olivia, were found bound with zip ties and plastic bags over their heads on June 2, not far from Decker’s abandoned truck.
Whitney Decker, the grieving mother, expressed her hope that her daughters’ legacy would live on in everyone’s hearts. Authorities are still searching for Decker, unsure of his whereabouts and whether he is still alive. The Kittitas County Sheriff’s Office stated that there is no concrete evidence of Decker’s whereabouts and emphasized the need for justice for the girls.
The US Marshals had a false-alarm sighting of Decker in the Sawtooth National Forest in Idaho, where a man resembling him was reportedly exhibiting strange behavior on a Fourth of July weekend. The search for Decker continues, with authorities determined to bring him to justice for the heinous crime he is accused of.
