Christopher Meloni Joins Dan Fogelman’s NFL Family Drama at Hulu

Christopher Meloni has been confirmed as the first addition to Dan Fogelman’s upcoming Hulu series set in the world of professional football. The untitled series was initially announced in October 2024, with specific plot and character details being kept under wraps. However, it is known that the show will revolve around the NFL with a generational family component, with Meloni portraying the head coach of a team.

Meloni’s connection to the world of football stems from his high school days, where he served as the quarterback for his team at St. Stephen’s & St. Agnes School in Virginia. In recognition of their undefeated season in 1978, Meloni and his team were inducted into the school’s hall of fame in 2007. His involvement in football-related projects includes appearing in the Kansas City Chiefs scripted series “The Magic Number” and providing voiceovers for NFL advertisements on Peacock.

While Meloni’s football background is notable, he is perhaps best known for his iconic role as Elliot Stabler in the “Law & Order” franchise. He originated the character on “Law & Order: SVU” and reprised it in “Law & Order: Organized Crime.” In addition to his work on the small screen, Meloni has starred in shows like “Oz,” “Happy!,” and “Underground,” as well as the “Wet Hot American Summer” series on Netflix. His film credits include “Man of Steel” and “Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle.”

Represented by Gersh, Meloni’s casting in Fogelman’s series adds to the anticipation surrounding the project. Fogelman, who serves as the writer and executive producer, is known for his work on the drama series “Paradise” and the popular Hulu show “Only Murders in the Building.” The upcoming football series will also feature Jess Rosenthal as an executive producer, along with David Ellison, Jesse Sisgold, and Jason T. Reed for Skydance Sports. Produced by 20th Television, the show will mark Fogelman’s second collaboration with Hulu.

As details continue to unfold about the series, fans of both Meloni and Fogelman can expect an intriguing exploration of the world of professional football with a unique generational twist. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting new project.
