Xiaomi 16 Tipped For Major Selfie Camera Upgrade
The upcoming Xiaomi 16 and Xiaomi 16 Pro smartphones are set to bring a significant upgrade to their camera capabilities, according to a recent leak. Digital Chat Station, a reliable tipster, has shared some exciting details about these flagship devices.
The standout feature of the Xiaomi 16 series is expected to be the improved selfie camera. The new models will sport a 50Mp front camera, a significant bump up from the 32Mp camera found in the Xiaomi 15. This higher resolution camera will not only enhance the clarity of selfies but also improve performance in low-light conditions and introduce autofocus for sharper images. With these improvements, Xiaomi is aiming to compete with other top-tier smartphones like the Pixel 9, iPhone 16, and Galaxy S25 in terms of selfie camera quality.
Additionally, the upgraded selfie camera on the Xiaomi 16 and Xiaomi 16 Pro will support a wide viewing angle and offer 4K video recording at 60 frames per second, matching the capabilities of the Xiaomi 15.
In terms of other specifications, the Xiaomi 16 is rumored to feature a new 50Mp 1/1.3″ main sensor for its rear cameras. On the other hand, the Pro model will not only include the same main sensor but also introduce a ToF (Time of Flight) sensor and enhanced dynamic range functionality. These additions will improve autofocus performance and enhance the bokeh effect in photos.
Rumors also suggest that the Xiaomi 16 will come equipped with a massive 7000mAh silicon-carbon battery, which would be significantly larger than the battery capacity of the Galaxy S25. Design renders of the Xiaomi 16 showcase a phone that bears a resemblance to its predecessor, the Xiaomi 15, but with a stylish two-tone finish. The Xiaomi 16 is expected to launch in China in October, followed by a global release in early 2026.
As enthusiasts of Xiaomi’s previous models, we are excited to see how the Xiaomi 16 series will perform with its upgraded camera features and other enhancements. Stay tuned for more updates on these highly anticipated flagship smartphones.
