‘Thama’ and ‘Param Sundari’ Lead Prime Video’s Eight-Film Maddock Deal

Prime Video India has recently announced a groundbreaking multi-year post-theatrical licensing deal with Maddock Films, securing exclusive worldwide streaming rights to eight highly anticipated upcoming titles from the renowned Indian production house.

The agreement cements Prime Video as the global streaming home for films from Maddock’s popular horror-comedy universe, slated to premiere theatrically between 2025 and 2027. One of the most anticipated titles included in the deal is “Thama,” featuring the talented Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna, which is part of the successful “Stree” universe. Additionally, two other franchise titles are set to be announced in the near future. Prime members across more than 240 countries and territories will have access to these films shortly after their theatrical releases.

This deal follows the immense success of “Stree 2,” the latest installment in Maddock’s horror-comedy franchise, which became a global streaming hit on Prime Video, expanding the film’s fanbase beyond its initial theatrical run.

Among the exciting titles covered in the agreement is “Param Sundari,” starring Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor, scheduled to hit theaters on Aug. 29. The slate also includes franchise expansions like “Shiddat 2” and “Badlapur 2,” along with Sriram Raghavan’s “Ikkis,” featuring Agastya Nanda, with more films to be revealed in due course.

This collaboration further solidifies the longstanding partnership between Prime Video and Maddock Films, which has previously brought titles such as “Stree 2,” “Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya,” and “Stree” to the streaming platform, in addition to co-production “Bhool Chuk Maaf” and original series “Jee Karda.”

Dinesh Vijan, the CEO and founder of Maddock Films, expressed his excitement about the deal, stating, “Our endeavor has always been to create worlds that audiences love to revisit. This strategic long-term post-theatrical licensing deal is a natural extension of our shared vision: to take Indian storytelling to a truly global stage.” He also commended Prime Video for championing cinema that transcends boundaries.

Manish Menghani, the director and head of content licensing for Prime Video India, echoed Vijan’s sentiments, emphasizing the platform’s commitment to delivering compelling stories to a global audience. He praised Maddock Films for its unique and popular horror-comedy universe, as well as its creative originality and fresh storytelling.

Maddock Films, founded in 2005, has earned a reputation for producing hits such as “Love Aaj Kal,” “Cocktail,” “Badlapur,” “Hindi Medium,” “Stree,” “Luka Chuppi,” “Bala,” “Mimi,” and “Chor Nikal Ke Bhaga.” The studio recently achieved immense success with “Stree 2” and “Chhaava,” two of the highest-grossing Hindi-language films of all time.

The collaboration between Prime Video and Maddock Films promises to bring even more exciting and entertaining content to audiences worldwide, further solidifying their position as leaders in the Indian entertainment industry.
