Despite his protests in Spanish, claiming innocence and a desire to be with his family, Perez-Teofani was taken into custody.
Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin of the Department of Homeland Security revealed that Perez-Teofani had previously been arrested in January 2024 in Fairfax County for aggravated sexual assault of a child under 13. The charges against him were dropped, but it was a concerning revelation considering his history of illegal entry into the US and defiance of removal orders.
Court records from Fairfax County showed that Perez-Teofani had been charged with indecent liberties with a child under 15 and aggravated sexual battery in 2024.
