Vikings reunite with Adam Thielen in major NFL trade
The Minnesota Vikings have made a significant move to bolster their receiving corps by bringing former star Adam Thielen back to the team. The deal sees Thielen returning to the Vikings in exchange for a 2026 fifth-round pick and a 2027 fourth-round selection from the Carolina Panthers. In addition, the Vikings are sending a conditional 2026 seventh-round pick and a 2027 fifth-round pick to the Panthers as part of the trade.
Thielen, who previously played for the Vikings from 2014-2022 after going undrafted out of Minnesota State, is set to make a return to purple and gold. During his time with the Vikings, Thielen amassed impressive stats, recording 534 catches for 6,682 yards and 55 touchdowns. He had standout seasons in 2017 and 2018, where he achieved over 1,250 receiving yards in back-to-back years.
After being released by the Vikings in 2023, Thielen signed a lucrative three-year, $25 million deal with the Panthers. In his first season with Carolina, he put up impressive numbers with 103 catches for 1,014 yards and four touchdowns. Despite being limited to 10 games last season due to injury, Thielen still managed to contribute with 48 catches for 615 yards and five scores.
With Thielen now back in the mix for the Vikings, he will join forces with standout receivers Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison to form a formidable trio. The Vikings, who made the playoffs last year but were eliminated in the Wild Card round, will look to capitalize on Thielen’s return to strengthen their passing game and make a deeper postseason run.
Overall, Thielen’s return to Minnesota signifies a homecoming for the veteran wideout and a boost for the Vikings as they aim to compete at the highest level in the upcoming season.
