Aspen property is most expensive house for sale in U.S.
Reported by River Stingray for The Aspen Times
Last week, the most expensive house on the market in the United States was listed for sale in Aspen. This 74.1-acre property is priced at a staggering $300,000,000.
The main residence on the property, known as the Little Lake Lodge, boasts 18 bedrooms, 20 full bathrooms, and four partial bathrooms. It was constructed by California billionaires Stewart and Lynda Resnick, renowned for co-owning The Wonderful Company and establishing the Resnick Center for Herbert Bayer Studies at the Aspen Institute. The Resnicks acquired the property, situated at 161 Stillwater Road near Highway 82 leading to Independence Pass, from the Benedict family.
“This is a property of significant historical value,” stated Brenda Wild, the broker and owner of Berkshire Hathaway Home Services Signature Properties in Aspen, who also serves as the real estate representative for the Aspen Chamber Resort Association. “Having a parcel of this size so close to downtown Aspen is truly unparalleled.”
Wild has personal ties to the property – her husband managed it for five years starting in 1996. She highlighted that the architect behind the design of the Little Lake Lodge was the same architect who created the original Wilderness Lodge at Disney World, Peter Dominick.
