Man killed, woman grazed by 2 masked gunmen opening fire on grounds of NYC housing complex: cops
A tragic incident occurred late Thursday night at the NYCHA’s Armstrong II Houses in Brooklyn, leaving a 28-year-old man dead and a 23-year-old woman injured. The man, identified as Shyhemm Lee, was shot in the head, while the woman was grazed in the neck by two masked gunmen who opened fire on the housing complex grounds around 11:50 p.m.
Both victims were rushed to Kings County Hospital Center, where Lee succumbed to his injuries. The woman, whose identity has not been disclosed, was listed in stable condition. The shooters fled the scene on foot and were still at large as of Friday.
The motive behind the shooting and whether the victims were specifically targeted are currently under investigation by the authorities. The incident adds to the concerning trend of violence in the area, with 14 shootings and 16 victims reported in the 79th Precinct, which includes the location of the shooting. This number is consistent with the previous year’s statistics.
In addition to the shooting incident, the precinct has also seen an increase in murders compared to the same period in 2024, with seven reported cases so far. The community is left reeling from the tragic loss of life and the ongoing violence plaguing the neighborhood.
