Sony Pictures Television Reups Movie Deal With Turkey’s Sinema TV
Sony Pictures Television has announced the extension of its partnership with Turkish pay TV operator Sinema TV, allowing for exclusive rights to a wide range of first-run feature films. This new agreement builds upon a previous deal signed in 2021, showcasing the strong relationship between Sony TV and Sinema TV.
Under this renewed agreement, Sinema TV will have exclusive pay-1 window rights in Turkey to a variety of Sony’s current and library titles. Some of the popular titles included in this deal are “Karate Kid: Legends,” “28 Years Later,” “Until Dawn,” “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” and “A Big Bold Beautiful Journey.” Additionally, other recent and classic Sony films covered by the deal include “Bad Boys: Ride or Die,” “It Ends With Us,” “Paddington in Peru,” as well as franchises like “Spider-Man,” “Jumanji,” “Venom,” “Men in Black,” “Karate Kid,” and “Hotel Transylvania.”
The Turkish cinema and pay-TV landscape is constantly evolving, with streaming platforms like Netflix and Disney+ gaining popularity. However, traditional pay-TV operators and specialized movie channels such as Sinema TV continue to thrive, especially with major studio deals like this one with Sony Pictures Television.
Sinema TV’s CEO Faruk Boyacıoğlu expressed his excitement about expanding their partnership with Sony Pictures Television through this multi-year Pay 1 deal. Similarly, SPT EVP distribution and networks Mark Young shared his enthusiasm for extending the feature film deal with Sinema TV, highlighting the collaboration between the two teams to bring exciting and popular titles to audiences in Turkey.
