Heart pounding video shows wild NYPD car chase in NYC

In a heart-pounding chase reminiscent of a Hollywood action film, a recent NYPD video captured the intense pursuit of two alleged car thieves in a stolen muscle car racing through the streets of the Bronx. The incident unfolded on September 17th when a bright blue 2025 Dodge Charger triggered a license plate reader at East 167th Street and Morris Avenue, alerting authorities to a stolen vehicle in the area.

Utilizing a drone pilot, the NYPD was able to track the Charger as it sped through the streets of Claremont Village, with the drone providing real-time updates to officers on the ground. A dramatic chase ensued, with approximately six police cars in pursuit as the Charger attempted to evade capture by driving on sidewalks and off-road down East 167th Street.

The high-speed pursuit came to a sudden halt when the Charger collided with an SUV at a red light on Walton Avenue. In a tense moment captured on body camera footage, officers can be heard shouting at the suspects to exit the vehicle as they made a run for it. Two quick-thinking officers gave chase, with one officer apprehending a suspect with the help of a vigilant pedestrian who pointed out his whereabouts.

The action-packed scene continued as plainclothes officers apprehended the second suspect, who was found to be in possession of a handgun hidden under his body. The officers swiftly secured the firearm, preventing a potentially dangerous situation from escalating.

Following the arrests, Emmanuel Torres, 26, of Newark, NJ, was charged with gun possession and criminal possession of stolen property, while Ricky Fernandez, 25, of Linden, NJ, faced charges of auto theft, criminal possession of stolen property, drug possession, and reckless driving. Fernandez, who was allegedly found with crack cocaine, pleaded not guilty and was released on his own recognizance, while Torres also pleaded not guilty and was released with non-monetary conditions.

The daring pursuit and subsequent arrests showcase the dedication and quick thinking of the NYPD in apprehending suspects and keeping the streets safe. The video footage serves as a reminder of the risks law enforcement officers face daily in their efforts to combat crime and protect the community.
