Apple TV, Formula 1 US Streaming Deal Estimated Worth $750 Million

Apple and Formula 1 have recently reached an agreement after months of negotiations, solidifying a five-year deal that will see all F1 races exclusively available on Apple TV in the U.S. starting in 2026. This move signifies Apple’s continued expansion into the sports streaming market, following previous deals with MLB and Major League Soccer.

The agreement between Apple and Formula 1 includes the rebranding of the video-streaming service Apple TV+ to provide a more dynamic and elevated viewing experience for Formula 1 fans. The deal is valued at approximately $750 million over the five-year term, with Apple committing to pay an average of $150 million annually to Formula 1.

Starting next year, U.S. subscribers will have access to all Formula 1 practice, qualifying, Sprint sessions, and Grands Prix races as part of their Apple TV subscription. The broadcasts will be available in English and Spanish, with select races and practice sessions being offered for free in the Apple TV app throughout the season.

In addition to streaming Formula 1 races, Apple plans to amplify the sport across its various platforms, including Apple News, Apple Maps, Apple Music, and Apple Fitness+. The company will also promote Formula 1 in its physical Apple Stores and introduce a dedicated F1 widget for iPhone users.

Apple’s Senior VP of Services, Eddy Cue, expressed his excitement for the partnership, highlighting his passion for Formula 1 and the potential to attract new fans to the sport. Formula 1 President and CEO, Stefano Domenicali, emphasized the shared vision between Apple and Formula 1 to engage American fans through live broadcasts and engaging content.

Under the deal, the F1 TV Premium streaming service will continue to be available in the U.S. through an Apple TV subscription, offering fans enhanced value with access to all Apple TV and Formula 1 content at a lower monthly price.

Looking ahead, Apple aims to acquire more sports rights while focusing on delivering unique and special production and presentation of live sports content. With a strong financial position, Apple is well-equipped to make significant moves in the sports streaming sector.

The agreement between Apple and Formula 1 marks a new chapter for the motorsport league in the U.S., with Apple’s extensive reach and innovative approach expected to elevate the viewing experience for fans. The partnership is set to launch in 2026 and is poised to reshape the way Formula 1 is consumed by American audiences.
