Ashish Singh, a senior advisor to Lightspeed Venture Partners, recognized the potential of using computer vision and machine learning to address the paperwork bottlenecks in healthcare. Lightspeed led a $2 million seed round to develop Coral AI, with Singh joining the board as an advisor. Singh praised Shrihari for his technical expertise and emotional intelligence, emphasizing the importance of working within the complexity of the healthcare system to drive meaningful change.
Coral AI differentiates itself from traditional robotic-process-automation tools by focusing on healthcare-specific data training and adapting to each provider’s workflow irregularities. The platform works in conjunction with human staff to ensure accuracy and oversight throughout the automation process.
One of Coral AI’s early customers, DASCO, a home medical equipment provider, has experienced significant improvements in document intake efficiency and accuracy. President Michael Gorman noted that Coral’s AI-driven software has reduced turnaround times from hours/days to mere minutes, benefiting both providers and patients.
A report by MIT in July 2025 highlighted the challenges faced by organizations in implementing generative AI solutions. While many organizations failed to see tangible results, Coral AI’s success story demonstrates the potential for transformative change in industries with complex workflows.
