John Travolta Stars With Daughter Ella in Black Tides Film
John Travolta and his daughter, Ella, are set to showcase their on-screen chemistry in the upcoming film, Black Tides. Deadline announced on October 20 that Travolta, aged 71, will headline the thriller alongside Melissa Barrera. Ella, 25, will play a significant role in the movie alongside Álvaro Mel and Dylan Torrell. The specifics of Ella’s character have yet to be disclosed.
Black Tides will narrate the story of a father (Travolta) attempting to mend his relationship with his daughter (Barrera) and grandson (Torrell) during a sailing expedition off the coast of Spain. However, their peaceful voyage takes a dreadful turn when their boat is besieged by a group of rogue orcas. The ensuing battle with the killer whales will propel the ship’s crew into a fight for survival in the open sea.
Principal photography for Black Tides has commenced in Gran Canaria, Spain, with filming at sea presenting its own set of challenges. Producer Adrián Guerra expressed his admiration for the cast’s camaraderie and director Renny’s ability to balance spectacle with heartfelt emotions.
Ella, who is Travolta’s daughter with the late Kelly Preston, will be making her fifth on-screen appearance in Black Tides. Having previously acted in movies like Old Dogs and The Poison Rose alongside her father, Ella is carving her path in the entertainment industry with upcoming projects like Get Lost and Nice People.
Tragically, Preston passed away in 2020 after a private battle with breast cancer, leaving behind a grieving family. Travolta, in an emotional Instagram post, shared the news of her demise and expressed gratitude for the outpouring of love and support they received during their time of mourning.
