Ex-boyfriend busted for stabbing Harlem woman ’50 times’ in ambush, claims she was his ‘entire life’

A tragic incident unfolded in Harlem when a deranged ex-boyfriend, Luis Marquez, allegedly ambushed his on-again, off-again girlfriend, Carmen Lopez, in a vicious attack that ultimately led to her death. The horrifying event took place inside Lopez’s West 129th Street apartment building, where Marquez reportedly stabbed her as many as 50 times. Shockingly, he callously left her to die in the hallway while her two children slept inside the apartment.

Reports suggest that Marquez was driven by jealousy and anger, as he believed Lopez did not prioritize him and used him in their tumultuous relationship. Despite no longer being together at the time of the attack, Marquez described Lopez as his “entire life” to police. The building porter, Lyron Middleton, discovered Lopez covered in blood and immediately called 911. The two children, aged 10 and 18, were inside the apartment while their mother was brutally attacked.

Marquez was initially brought to Lincoln Medical Center for a 24-hour psychiatric hold before being charged in connection with the murder.
