New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd is fighting for his life after being shot in New York City in the early hours of Sunday.
The NYPD reported that the shooting occurred around 2 AM near Times Square. Upon arrival, officers discovered the 29-year-old cornerback lying on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound to his abdomen.
Emergency medical services quickly transported Boyd to the hospital, where he remains in critical condition, as confirmed by law enforcement officials.
The Jets have acknowledged the incident with a brief statement, mentioning, “We are aware of the situation involving Kris Boyd and will have no further comment at this time.”
At present, no arrests have been made, and the shooter remains at large. Authorities revealed that the assailant fled the scene in a blue BMW following the shooting. Investigations are ongoing to determine the motive behind the attack and whether Boyd had any prior connection to the suspect.
Kris Boyd, who recently joined the Jets this season, has previously played for the Vikings and Cardinals in his football career.
