Sen. Cory Booker marries Alexis Lewis in intimate DC ceremony
Sen. Cory Booker has tied the knot with his fiancé Alexis Lewis in a private ceremony in Washington, DC. The couple, who announced their engagement less than three months ago, had a beautiful interfaith ceremony with only close family in attendance. The ceremony was blessed by both a pastor and a rabbi, reflecting the couple’s Christian and Jewish backgrounds.
The location of the venue was kept undisclosed for privacy reasons, but the couple legally wed at the US District Court in Newark shortly after their ceremony. The intimate celebration included Italian pastries and a vegan chocolate chip cookie dough cake to accommodate Booker’s vegan diet.
Booker and Lewis were introduced by a mutual friend known for matchmaking in May 2024. Their first date lasted over five hours, and Booker convinced Lewis to extend her stay so they could go out again the next night. Their connection deepened during a magical second date, which ended with their first kiss outside the Cathedral Basilica of the Sacred Heart.
The couple moved in together in April and even fostered a dog named Cooke. Booker proposed to Lewis in Kauai, Hawaii, after a group of native musicians played her favorite song, “Dreamlover” by Mariah Carey. Lewis was touched by the gesture and said yes to Booker’s proposal.
Lewis expressed her happiness at finding love with Booker, stating that they had both been on epic personal journeys before meeting each other. Booker, who has never been married, was previously named as one of Town & Country magazine’s “Top 40 Bachelors” in 2013.
Lewis, a DC native with a bachelor’s degree from NYU and an MBA from Cornell, has a background in working with the office of former LA mayor Eric Garcetti. She currently serves as a director of investments at Brasa Capital Management, a Los Angeles-based real estate investment firm.
The couple’s love story is a celebration of finding each other at this stage of their lives, and their wedding marks the beginning of a new chapter together.
