Somali student in Minnesota threatens to ‘pop’ ICE agents in expletive-ridden viral rant
A Somali Minnesota college student, Hasan Mohamed, is facing criticism for a social media post in which he threatened to harm ICE agents. In the viral video, Mohamed can be heard using expletives and vowing to shoot immigration agents the next time they show up in his Owatonna neighborhood.
The video quickly spread on social media, leading to widespread backlash against Mohamed. Despite deleting the original post, he later posted a series of follow-up videos apologizing for his actions, claiming that he was only trying to be funny.
However, some were not convinced by Mohamed’s apology, noting similarities to a past controversial apology made by YouTube star Logan Paul. The incident comes at a time when ICE has been intensifying its immigration crackdown in Minnesota, with recent arrests being highlighted on social media.
The federal agency has been focusing on Minnesota due to concerns about fraudulent immigration paperwork among Somali migrants. This has led to increased enforcement activity in the state, with ICE issuing a statement saying, “Minnesota’s weather is cloudy with a 100% chance of ICE.”
The controversy surrounding Mohamed’s video highlights the tensions surrounding immigration enforcement in the state. As the debate continues, it serves as a reminder of the complex issues surrounding immigration policy and enforcement in the United States.
