Ex-NFL star Myles Jack star facing deadly conduct charge in Texas

Myles Jack, a former NFL linebacker, found himself in a strange and concerning situation in Frisco, Texas. The 30-year-old was arrested this week and is now facing a third-degree felony charge after allegedly discharging a firearm during a welfare check, as reported by the Frisco Police Department.

The incident occurred early Tuesday morning in a residential area of Frisco when officers responded to a welfare concern around 5:40 a.m. Upon arrival, the police heard gunshots coming from inside the home. The suspect, later identified as Myles Jack, attempted to escape through a two-story window and subsequently fell.

Jack was taken into custody at 7:12 a.m. and was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries from the fall. Fortunately, no one else was inside the residence at the time of the incident.

The charges against Jack include multiple counts of deadly conduct, including a third-degree felony for the discharge of a firearm and a Class-A misdemeanor for the discharge of a firearm in certain municipalities. He posted a $100,000 bond on Thursday, according to records.

A UCLA alum, Myles Jack was selected as the No. 36 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. He played for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Jacksonville Jaguars from 2016 to 2023, with a brief stint with the Philadelphia Eagles during that time. Throughout his career, Jack amassed 7.5 sacks, 634 tackles, and three interceptions.

In 2023, Jack, along with his mother LaSonjia Jack, purchased the ECHL Allen Americans minor league hockey team. He is also affiliated with the ECHL’s Jacksonville Icemen, listed as part of a group of former athletes who are investors in Zawyer Sports, the entity that owns the Icemen.

The incident in Frisco has raised concerns and questions about Myles Jack’s involvement and behavior. As the legal process unfolds, more details may come to light regarding the circumstances surrounding the discharge of the firearm during the welfare check.
