Nevada car crash tosses vehicle airborne, driver lands in backyard pool

A shocking incident occurred in southern Nevada when a car crashed through a backyard wall, went airborne, and ejected the driver into a private swimming pool. The terrifying moment was captured on home surveillance video in Laughlin late on December 15.

According to reports from FOX 5 Las Vegas, the driver was allegedly speeding before failing to stop, crashing through a concrete wall, and sending the vehicle rotating through the air. The car struck the roof of the backyard pool house before landing on the property at the edge of the pool, ejecting the driver into the water.

Homeowner Cletis Reed described hearing a loud crash, like a “freight train,” and rushing outside to find his backyard destroyed and a woman floating in his pool. He mentioned that he was moments away from getting into his hot tub, located near the collapsed wall, but by the grace of God, he was unharmed.

The driver landed in the shallow end of the pool, surrounded by concrete and block walls, which Reed described as waist-deep. With the help of others, the driver was pulled from the water and found to be conscious but disoriented. Emergency services arrived, and the driver was taken to a hospital in Arizona for further treatment.

The aftermath of the crash left the backyard in ruins, with the patio destroyed and the 25,000-gallon pool contaminated with motor oil. Reed estimated that repairs could cost nearly $300,000, including the possibility of draining the pool for cleaning.

The vehicle was in such a difficult position that a tow truck had to use a crane to remove it from the backyard. Reed, who had invested his retirement savings into creating a backyard oasis, including the resort-style pool, now faces extensive repairs and restoration.

This harrowing incident serves as a reminder of the dangers of reckless driving and the unexpected consequences that can result from it. The driver’s fortunate escape from serious injury highlights the importance of safety measures and responsible behavior on the road.
