Police say 1 killed, 27 missing in landfill collapse in central Philippine city

Tragedy Strikes in Cebu City as Garbage Heap Collapses A massive pile of garbage collapsed at a waste segregation facility in Cebu City, Philippines, resulting in one fatality and leaving 27 individuals unaccounted for, according to local authorities.

Emergency responders, including police, firefighters, and disaster response teams, managed to rescue eight individuals, predominantly workers at the facility, who were trapped beneath the rubble following the incident in Binaliw village. Tragically, one female worker succumbed to her injuries en route to the hospital, as confirmed by Brig. Gen. Roderick Maranan.

Efforts to locate and extract the remaining 27 missing persons from the immense mound of trash are ongoing, as search and rescue operations persist at the landfill site.
