NFL MVP and other top awards to be announced at NFL Honors
NFL Honors is set to take place on Thursday night in San Francisco, where the league MVP and the winners of seven other prestigious AP NFL awards will be announced. This event comes just days before the highly anticipated Super Bowl 60.
One standout player this year is Christian McCaffrey, who has made history by being a finalist for three AP NFL awards in the same year, a feat only achieved by one other player. McCaffrey is in the running for The Associated Press 2025 NFL Most Valuable Player award alongside Josh Allen, Trevor Lawrence, Drake Maye, and Matthew Stafford.
Maye, who will be leading the New England Patriots in the upcoming Super Bowl against the Seattle Seahawks, is also a finalist for Offensive Player of the Year, along with McCaffrey. Additionally, McCaffrey and Lawrence are among the finalists for Comeback Player of the Year.
The winners of these awards were determined by a nationwide panel of 50 media members who cover the league extensively. The voting process took place before the start of the playoffs, and the votes were tabulated by the accounting firm Lutz and Carr.
The voting system involved selecting a top 5 for each of the eight AP NFL awards, with first-place votes carrying 10 points, and subsequent rankings earning 5, 3, 2, and 1 points, respectively.
In addition to the MVP award, the other awards to be presented at NFL Honors include Coach of the Year, Assistant Coach of the Year, Comeback Player of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Offensive Player of the Year, Defensive Rookie of the Year, and Offensive Rookie of the Year.
